The University retains its location in the premises of the Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) in Mwanza. Its location at BMC remains most appropriate because this 870-bed teaching, referral, and consultant hospital also belongs to the Catholic Church, and serves about one third of country’s population. It provides space and faculty for clinical training of its students with the six regions of Tanzania around Lake Victoria providing the catchments area.

St. Augustine University of Tanzania, established in 1998, is an independent higher learning institution governed by the Board of Trustees and the University Council under the Catholic Bishops of Tanzania (Tanzania Episcopal Conference). The University is accredited holding a certificate of Accreditation granted by the higher Education Accreditation Council of Tanzania (currently known as the Tanzania Commission for Universities) on 25th September 2002 in accordance with the provisions of the Educational (Amendment) Act No. 10 of 1995

Ruaha University College (RUCO) is a private and secular institution of higher learning that is open to all regardless of their faith or religious affiliation.It was established by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) under its Trust Deed of the Registered Trustees of Ruaha University College who are the trustees of SAUT, through the generous support of well wishers (friends of RUCO) within and outside the country.The College is governed and administered in accordance with the Catholic Church Policy on Higher Education Institutions Ex Corde Ecclesia and the provisions of the constitution establishing a constituent college of the St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT).

 

RUCO is conveniently located centrally within Iringa Municipality along Uhuru Avenue on the Great North Road to Dodoma, at what used to be Dr. Amon J. Nsekela Bankers Academy, in the Wilolesi area. Its central location and picturesque environment makes it an attractive ornament and centre of meetings in the Municipality. The main entrance is next to the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) Mkwawa Branch.

Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences - Bugando

Mwenge University College of Education (MWUCE) was established in 2005 and is the successor to St. Joseph's Teachers College which opened to Diploma in Education courses in 2001. The first students graduated in May 2003. Construction work started in 1995 with financial assistance from MISEREOR, an organisation under the auspices of the Bishops' Conference of Germany.

 

MWUCE is owned by the Catholic Church but has an open access equal opportunities policy for both staff and students. The college was opened in responce to government requests for private organisations to become involved in secondary and higher education.

 

When St. Joseph college first opened, it prepared students for the National Diploma Education, a two year course which qualifies graduates to teach in secondary schools. The college specialised in teaching science and mathematics methods courses, but in July 2003, added English methods.

Stella Maris Mtwara University College was started as a University Centre being an extension of St Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) which was established in 1998. It was established in 2009 in accordance with the mission and vision of the University which foresees the holistic formation of a person for the national development. The southern zone of Tanzania including Mtwara, Lindi and Ruvuma has been lagging behind in terms of various social and economic developments. Apart from Tanzania having a low university participation rate, there are also regional disparities in access to higher education. Many of the higher education institutions are clustered in cities and municipalities in other parts of the country except the southern zone.

The Archbishop Mihayo University College of Tabora (AMUCTA) is a constituent college of St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT). AMUCTA is an independent higher-learning institution governed by the Board of Trustees and the University Council under the Catholic Bishops of Tanzania (Tanzania Episcopal Conference).The Archbishop Mihayo University College of Tabora (AMUCTA) is located at Viziwi (Deaf Mute Institute) along Lumumba Street in Tabora municipality. The University is very close to the bus stand, the railway station, and the Tabora airport. It is also along Nzega road and adjacent to Tabora Teachers College.
